Marriage Citizenship Regulations

A lot of people who want to obtain the Green card and become a U.S. citizen consider marriage as the best way to get this. After marriage Citizenship is not a new concept in the U.S. According to the laws of the U.S. government, a foreigner who gets married to a U.S. citizen, is worthy of obtaining a Green card, to live in U.S. permanently.

Before a foreigner thinks of getting citizenship, the foreigner has to plan out his migration to the U.S. It is simply not easy to migrate to the U.S. because there are so many legal formalities that are to be fulfilled before thinking of migration. A person after getting married to a U.S. citizen cant fly to the U.S. on a whim without getting a marriage visa.

One way to enter the U.S. before marriage, is to have K1 fianc\'e9 visa. For this visa, the U.S. citizen fianc\'e9 has to file an application for the visa for alien fianc\'e9 with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

This application is then forwarded to National Visa center to send it for petitioner. After completion, the file is send back to USCIS. Following this, it reaches the U.S. consulate in the alien fianc\'e9 home town, to schedule an interview for fianc\'e9 visa.

Once the visa processing is over, dont worry. You will get the fianc\'e9 visa.

K1 visa does not automatically change in to permanent resident visa. The individual has to file for adjustment of status to become a permanent resident of the U.S. after the alien fianc\'e9 gets married to a U.S. citizen.

There is no short cut to apply for Green card before marriage. This is as per the rules of the U.S. government. The Unites States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) first asks for your marriage proof, before you can actually file an application for green card.

After applying for the Green card, only those individuals are allowed to stay back and wait for their Green card. These are individuals who have a non-immigrant visa with them. The processing time for a Green card depends upon the service center, where the application is filed. But on an average, it takes around 12 to 18 months to get it processed.

In the process of getting the Green card, both the foreigner spouse and the U.S. citizen spouse, will have to face an interview before the Green card is finally allotted to the foreigner spouse. The purpose of taking the interview is to judge the marriage which was entered in all faith and that all the USCIS forms are completely and correctly filled.

Therefore, we conclude that though a U.S. based citizen and a foreigner binds in to marriage, after marriage citizenship of the U.S. is still a tough job for an alien spouse. The USCIS cant really do anything about it as they monitor very carefully whosoever migrates to the U.S. region is a genuine person. That is why the immigration process takes such a lot of time.
