Fiancee Visa Makes Marriages EasierThe United States Immigration Laws provide a privilege to a US citizen who wants to bring his foreign Fiancee into the country. The individuals who enter the country with the purpose of marriage require visas. In such cases, the females are issued a Fiancee visa. This visa is also known as a K-1 visa. Earlier, a US citizen had to marry his Fiancee in her native country and then had to apply for a spousal visa. This was the only way he could bring his Fiancee into the United States. This process didn't give any time to the bride to adjust to the marriage and the environment of the United States. Another thing was that with the growing number of applicants, the time involved in obtaining the immigration status for the Fiancee also grew. This was cited as a problem by many people and lead to the introduction of the Fiancee visa. With the introduction of the Fiancee visa this problem has been solved to an extent. Rather the problem is not as severe now. The best part is that the Fiancee visa allows the foreign fiancee to enter the U.S. and then she has 90 days to marry. If she complies to it then she can stay in the United states for as long as she wants. If in case she does not want to marry the US citizen anymore, then she has to leave the country before the 90 day period expires. However, she will remain eligible for a fiancee visa whether it be with the same fiancee or a new one. If the fiancee is from a third world country and is not wealthy, then she can only obtain a fiancee visa. However, if the country which she belongs to is a rich one then she is qualified for a visa waiver program. This program enables her to obtain a U.S. B-1/B-2 visitor visa. She can also obtain any other type of a U.S. non-immigrant visa. However, this does not allow her to marry a U.S. citizen and stay there as well. If someone tries to enter US on a visitor's visa for the purpose of marriage then it is considered to be a fraud. Usually after the marriage, the fiancee has to adjust her status, so that she can become a permanent resident or a green card holder, in other words. However, if the fraud is discovered even after the green card has been issued, the fiancee will be sent back and may be barred from entering the United States. The fact remains that the fiancee visa has been very helpful for people who want to enter United States to marry their beloved and live happily ever after. |
